North Lincolnshire Council has joined forces with Curlys Athletes, Sportive HQ and Blizard Physiotherapy and Sports Performance Clinic to host a North Lincolnshire Tour of Britain Sportive on Sunday 10 September.

The Sportive will give people the chance to get the ‘real tour experience’ and ride part of the route the professional cyclists will take on Tuesday 5 September during Stage Three of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain.

There will be three routes that cyclists can choose from: 24,60 or 103 miles.

Jenny Couch, lead organiser for the North Lincolnshire Tour of Britain, said:

“We are thrilled to be working with Curlys Athletes, Sportive HQ and Blizard Physiotherapy and Sports Performance Clinic to create the North Lincolnshire Tour of Britain Cycling Sportive.

“The sportive will be held a few days after Stage Three of the Tour of Britain comes to North Lincolnshire, so the decorations will still be up around North Lincolnshire and cycling fever will still be in the air. It will be a brilliant way to celebrate the Tour of Britain and get amateur cyclists and communities involved.

“The Tour of Britain is a huge international event and so it only seems right to have legacy events such as the sportive taking place in North Lincolnshire.

“It is also an opportunity for those that may not be able to see the Tour of Britain travelling across North Lincolnshire to get involved in a community cycling experience.

North Lincolnshire is set to host an entire stage of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain for the first time ever this September, as Britain’s premier road cycling event heads to the area on Tuesday 5 September 2017.

120 of the world’s top cyclists will take on a 172-kilometre stage, starting from the beautiful 300-acre estate of Normanby Hall Country Park and finishing in the heart of Scunthorpe near Central Park.

The Humber Thunder - 100 Mile Route

A challenging route that finds riders taking on a deceptively tough and rolling route with short sharp climbs and grippy roads adding to the experience of the Tour of Britain!

Two well stocked feed stations are provided on this route. The first feed station stocked with sandwiches, crisps, fruit, cake, tea or coffee and SIS top ups. The second feed station has tea or coffee, cake, bananas, Haribo and more SIS so you’ll be ready for the final sting in this tigers tail!

The Horkstow Huzzar - 100 KM Route

Rolling roads and great views make this route well worth stepping up to the challenge for!

A well stocked feed station offering sandwiches, crisps, fruit, cake, tea or coffee and SIS top ups should see you through to the end.

After the split point we head north and stay on the flatter roads away from the steep hills and take in some fantastic views from the wolds edge before heading west along the Humber bank and back towards to HQ. A great achievement if its your first 100km sportive and a great taste of the Tour of Britain in North Lincolnshire.

The Scawby Dash - 40 KM Route

A great route to get you started on your Sportive palmares and gain an insight into a day in the life of a Pro Cyclist at the Tour of Britain!

A challenging route that rolls along through some great scenery with a proper test at Kirton with the climb of Station Road! Once past climb you only have to enjoy the rest of the route safe in the knowledge that the tough part is over!
