Join the team from BPL for our inaugural BPL Bike Ride. Our first spin will be the classic London to Brighton route, which is about 60 miles.

Don’t panic, you don’t have to be a super-fast cyclist to take on this challenge, but a bit of training would be required to make sure you are going to make it, particularly as the infamous Ditchling Beacon is at mile 52!

The event is taking place on Thursday 7th September. We’ll be setting off from our office at 52 Lime Street. Are you ready to take on the challenge? We’d love to have you with us.”

So how much cycling experience do I need?

Well we do recommend you have a road bike, with cleats and cycling shoes, attempting a ride like this on an unsuitable bike would be very uncomfortable.

What kit will I need?

We recommend as well as having the right bike then proper padded cycling shorts, cycling helmet, water bottles, and spare inner tubes for your bike.

What sort of training do I need to do in advance?

You need to be comfortable with at least a distance of 40 miles before attempting such a ride, so getting out and riding 2 or 3 times a week with an occasional longer ride thrown in will help.

What if I get lost on the day?

We will be riding in mixed ability groups, each with an experienced ride leader, the groups will stay together as unit, after all its about networking as much as it is cycling.

Can I bring some clothes to get changed into when we finish?

Yes, bring your bag along to the start and we will put it in one of the support vehicles.

The Route is broken up into sections with two roadside coffee and cake stops and main lunch stop at Tulleys Tea Rooms near Turners Hill where there will be sandwiches and other hot drinks available.

Itinerary

9.00 Am meet at Red Lion Coffee on the ground floor of our offices

9 – 9.30 Coffee, Danish and Pre Ride Briefing

9.30 – Ride starts – in three groups 5 minutes apart

How do I  get home afterwards?

After the event please make your own way home via train, preferably with your bike but if necessary Sportive HQ will return your bike to BPL’s offices at a set time on Friday where you must meet them to collect.

Included in the ride is a fantastic cycling jersey by Pro Vision Cycling Clothing so please just choose your size when you sign up to ride.

To get a Jersey included with your entry you must sign up before the 30th July.
